37th Metro Manila Film Festival – Philippines
I am about to blog the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival – a yearly film festival held here in the Philippines and as I am looking for some information on the net and looking for the official site, I stumbled upon the MMDA website and learned about it is the official body handling the festival. I am a bit surprised and annoyed at the same time because when I opened the site on my browser’s new tab I heard suddenly a song being played. First came to my mind a pop up ads may caused it. But as the song continue to play it sounded a Tagalog female voice and this time I need to find which tab is it. I ended at the MMDA website, well, it is a nice song actually, the official MMDA hymn. When you visit the site for the first time, the song is embedded on the site and will play it automatically.
So what to blog about the 37th MMFF? I’ll be listing here the official list of entries.
The 37th Metro Manila Film Festival will run from Dec. 25, 2011 to Jan. 7, 2012.

It’s official, Megastar Sharon Cuneta is now a Kapatid
Yes it’s official, Megastar Sharon Cuneta is now a “Kapatid”. Transferred to TV5 network, this afternoon, November 22, 2011 TV5 employees warmly welcomed her as she entered to the network’s office located at Marajo Tower in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
According to news came out during this week, as I have read from newspaper, particularly at Ricky Lo’s column at Philippine Star, the contract deal closed to a staggering Php 1B. Yes, its a 1 billion pesos contract for her talent fee.
As the official news came from TV5 News, the contract is set to be a 5 year. Contained in the contract are projects that would really bring TV5 into the next level, a daily show, a reality show and a movie.
The contract signing is witnessed by the prominent key officials of TV5 president and CEO Atty. Ray Espinosa, TV5 chief operating officer Robert Barreiro, Sharon’s talent managers, Sandra Chavez and Vic del Rosario of Viva Artists Agency, Inc.
Prior to the transfer of the Megastar, other big names in the showbusiness flocked to TV5, Aga Mulach, Lorna Tolentino to name a few.

Lolong the longest, the biggest

A verdict has been tagged to Lolong as the world’s biggest and longest crocodile ever captured. Though it’s not yet official in the Guinness World Records because of some technical requirements but soon will hold the title definitely.
Lolong ousted the current record holder Cassius an Australian saltwater crocodile as the world’s longest and biggest crocodile. Measured by zoologist Dr. Adam Briton, who was part of a 10-member National Geographic (NatGeo) team doing a documentary on the Philippine crocodile at the wildlife preservation center at Bunawan town in Agusan del Sur province.
Lolong measured 20.3 feet long against Cassius measured at 17 feet, 11.75 inches long.

Wherever you are on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, NV, don’t miss the chance to see and watch the fight of Pacquiao versus Marquez for the third time.
- PPV – Pay-Per-View - HBO Pay-Per-View, DirectTV 123, 124, su.
- Free Online Streaming – if you are lucky enough to find one of these free online streaming live fights. We’ll be posting here what and how you can watch free online streaming of the fight, if we are lucky to find one.
- Local TV coverage – here in the Philippines, GMA has the rights to cover the fight and airs the fight, though it is not live, a post fight can be watched an hour late of the live fight. Schedule would be Sunday, November 13, 2011 (Manila Time), 11 AM to 3PM if I’m not mistaken. GMA TV Network I think covers all the events including those undercard fights.
- Movie Theaters – some movie theaters offers live coverage of the fight with entry fees decent enough to have a relaxed watching.

Pacquiao versus Marquez III fight this coming November 12, 2011 (November 13, 2011 Manila Time) at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada would be a well hit and anticipated by many people all over the world and most especially by Filipinos. Here in the Philippines, every time Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao has a fight, its like a tradition for Filipinos to momentarily stop at work and be their eyes glued on the television just to watch the fight.
For the third time around, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao will met again at the ring. Back in 2008 where Pacquiao won a split decision over “Dinamita” Marquez following their controversial draw back in 2004.
